Dear visitor, welcome to my website!
My name is Jürgen Peeters; I am a psychotherapist, a coach and an educator. On this page you can read more about my work and me. As I perform most of my work in Dutch, the larger part of this site is in Dutch too.
Jürgen Peeters
While being trained as a teacher, a social worker and afterwards as a psychotherapist, I acquired much experience in doing several jobs (groupwork with children and adolescents, family counseling, teamleading, psychotherapy with victims and sexoffenders …) Another kind of expertise I gained in being a partner and a father.
These are the main topics in my work:
• Connecting experiences in growing up, attachment and aware parenting
• Problem behavior in children and adolescents (parental issues)
• Early child development
• Family and Organizational Systemic Constellations
• Surviving trauma and sexual abuse (victims and perpetrators)
• Sexual and gender specific development
• Couples relationship
• Resistance in working with clients
• Stress and burnout
Two days a week I work in my private practice with adult individuals and couples.
De Onderstroom
In the year 2000 I founded “De Onderstroom” (the undercurrent), a small enterprise in development, education, coaching and supervision.
Most of the time I work for professionals in welfare, in youth care and in the field of education and raising kids. Few times a year I deliver lections for parents and guide some group conferences about raising-up issues.
In each training or process guiding I expect self-reflection from the participants. I always try to facilitate a connection between thinking, feeling and doing in relation to the client’s body and context. It satisfies me to find an opening in situations that seem to be blocked.
The undercurrent is what determines us. Our behaviour is not conducted by our rational thinking; rather it is under influence of unconscious dynamics in the systems that we live in, in our body and psyche. Amongst others Carl Jung, Fritz Perls, Alexander Lowen, Ivan Nagy, Bert Hellinger, Martine Delfos, Irvin Yalom and Aletha Solter are important sources of inspiration in my work.
For some specific issues I work together with colleagues in the field. Next to the open offer, there are different interesting tailor-made programmes about the topics mentioned above.
Aletha Solter
I was delighted that Dr. Aletha Solter agreed to come to Belgium in May 2009 to give some workshops concerning Aware Parenting . More about that unique programme you can find here .
